When visiting Curacao there are certain activities that you must have done. Swimming with Dolphins is one of the things I still want to do, because it is only possible in a few countries !. Another thing you can do is visiting the beautiful natural beaches. But, the place you really have to go to is: Klein Curacao. It is in my top 3 activities to-do at Curacao. Curious about my day at ‘Klein’? Read on!
Why visiting Klein Curacao? It is at only a small distance from Curacao itself, 90 minutes with the boat. (For the people whom are prompt to sea sickness, one tip: take a pill before you go.) At 7 AM we left Curacao, at 8:30 AM we arrived at the small uninhabited island. The sand looks like crystal powder so soft and white and the water is (again) clearer than I have seen before. It costs about 100 euro per person and as an intern you may get a discount of 10 euros.
If you have always wanted to relax on an uninhabited island then this must be the perfect opportunity. And no this is not the only thing, if you are into sea turtles; at Klein they swim at only 10 metres from the coast. And not to mention the lovely fish and the underwater sea life. It is a underworld wonderland of colour, peace and ‘undisturbed’ nature.
You have a whole day for sunbathing, beach fun and to snorkel. At a walking distance you will find the lighthouse. The lighthouse is the only piece of real architecture on the inhabited island. There are people that climb into the lighthouse although it is not recommended because it is unstable inside the tower. The last time the lighthouse was renovated was in 1913. But there are plans for a renovation.
We had a lovely organized day with breakfast and lunch. Klein Curacao is a part of Curacao territory and it is definitely a destination that you have to add to your to-do list!
