By now we all know the happiest athlete from Curaçao. Our local hero, Churandy Martina. Besides winning medals nowadays he does not only run but he also stars in different commercials. Today I would like to highlight his latest appearance in the music video “Rise” of Katty Perry.

“Rise” was created as an anthem for U.S. broadcaster NBC’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Yes, I know it’s just 2 seconds but 2 seconds in a Katy Perry music video an artist that has a fan base consisting of millions of persons around the world.

“This is a song that’s been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface. I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite,”

She further added:

“I know that together we can rise above the fear – in our country, and around the world. I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be.
